Eric Welch and Penny Schwinn – Tennessee Education Report

While much has been made in recent days about Commissioner of Education Penny Schwinn’s “plan” and a survey sent to various “stakeholders,” Williamson County School Board member Eric Welch gets to the heart of the matter in a series of tweets:

My 2 cents, for what it's worth (about 2 cents) but big issue isn't even the plan. We can debate details and even fundamentally disagree on the outcome but the general concept of making up lost instructional days is a reasonable starting point for a discussion. /1

And let's face it, after 1-in-5 @TNedu jumping ship, no-bid contracts, Vouchers pushed a year early and prioritized over LEA & teacher needs, constantly changing plans, lack of transparency, etc., etc., etc. – it's not like there was a whole lot of trust left to erode /4
